After more than 6 months of meetings and exchanges with professionals of various sectors, and the creation of a workshop where an autistic person became involved, we are convinced. A new-generation robotic platform like Lirobia will be a fantastic tool for observation, evaluation and stimulation of persons with atypical behavior: dyslexics, persons with autism, road accident or stroke victims, etc.In the future, thanks to collaboration of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) and Inserm in France, neuropsychologists, specialized Japanese laboratories, suppliers of essential electronic components, detection of certain disorders and assistance to those affected will soon be possible.
Very soon, communities will be able to approach the question of disability (which for some will no longer even be considered handicaps) by integrating new digital technology. Certain companies, like Google, are already leading the way, integrating sign language into video transmission. Another example is Sony, with its “subtitle glasses” for movie-goers.
We have also taken into consideration the comments of professionals to assure that the specifications of our proof of concept integrate essential elements. We are most eager to try these new concepts, to start the experiment and then rapidly put them into practice.
